South African singer, Tyla Laura Seethal, popularly known as Tyla has removed Lagos from the list of cities on her official world tour schedule, days after calls intensified in Nigeria for a boycott of her planned concert over concerns surrounding xenophobic attacks against Nigerians living in South Africa.

The Grammy award-winning singer’s December 22, 2026, Lagos date no longer appears among the stops listed on her official tour itinerary, sparking fresh reactions across social media.

The development follows growing criticism from some Nigerians, including public figures and commentators, who had urged the singer to address recurring incidents of xenophobic violence in South Africa before performing in Nigeria.

The calls gained momentum after reports that Nigerian singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr and members of her team allegedly encountered visa-related challenges for engagements in South Africa, prompting renewed conversations about the treatment of Nigerians in the country.

Despite the removal of the Lagos date, neither Tyla nor her management team has issued an official statement explaining why the concert was taken off the tour schedule.

There has also been no confirmation on whether the show has been cancelled, postponed or removed for logistical reasons.

The silence has fueled speculation online, with many linking the decision to the ongoing boycott campaign, while others have cautioned against concluding the absence of an official explanation.

Ibom Air Passenger Remanded In Prison

  Comfort Emmanson, a passenger of Ibom Air who had a fight with officials has been arraigned and remanded in custody.   A video of her in a flight inbound Lagos from Uyo has since gone viral.   The Special Adviser to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, who revealed this, said Emmanson has been remanded in the Kirikiri correctional facility.   Moshood disclosed this in a post on X on Monday shortly after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), said enforcement action will soon become more frequent in Nigerian airports as unruly conduct by passengers becomes rampant.

  The Uni ted States House of Representatives has approved an amendment seeking to withhold 100 per cent of the U.S. assistance to Nigeria until the country takes stronger measures to address violence and alleged persecution of Christians. The amendment, sponsored by the U.S. Congressman Gregory Steube, was adopted through a voice vote on Wednesday and attached to the fiscal year 2027 State Department spending bill, which was later passed by the House by 217-209 votes, largely along party lines.
