Brad Pitt’s Daughter, Zahara Publishes Legal Notice To Drop Father’s Surname

Zahara Jolie-Pitt has taken a major step toward legally removing her father, Brad Pitt’s, surname from her name.

According to court documents, the 21-year-old has completed a legal requirement for a name change in California by publishing a public notice of her request in the Los Angeles Daily Journal once a week for four consecutive weeks.

The notice informs the public of her petition to change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. It also invites anyone who opposes the change to submit a written objection before the final court hearing.

Zahara filed the petition in June, and a court hearing has been scheduled for September 28, where a judge is expected to make the final decision if no objections are raised.

The move follows a similar decision by her sister, Shiloh, who officially dropped “Pitt” from her surname in 2024. Other siblings, including Maddox and Vivienne, have also stopped using the Pitt surname publicly in recent years.
