Imo State Police Command Begin Investigation Over Accident, Death Of 2 Policemen

 


The Imo State Police Command has begun investigation into the circumstances surrounding the vehicle incident involving seven operatives that resulted in the death of two officers in the Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo State.

Police spokesperson for Imo State Command, Henry Okoye made the disclosure yesterday.

According to him, seven Police operatives were involved in a road accident on Monday, June 29, during which two died following the injuries sustained in the accident that occurred along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in the Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo State.

Okoye said the State Police boss, Audu Garba Bosso had ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident that resulted in the death of two operatives.

He expressed the condolences of the Police boss, Bosso to the families of the deceased.

However, the police spokesperson did not give the identities of the deceased personnel.

Okoye said, “The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, psc(+), mnips, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road traffic accident involving seven personnel of the Command who were on official duty on 29th June, 2026, along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

“Regrettably, two of the officers later succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical treatment, while the other injured personnel are currently undergoing treatment. The Commissioner of Police has directed that every necessary medical and welfare support be provided to the injured officers to aid their recovery.

“On behalf of the officers and men of the Imo State Police Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso extends his heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased officers. He described their deaths as a painful loss to the Command and the Nigeria Police Force, noting that their dedication and sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered.

“The Commissioner of Police also prays for the speedy and full recovery of the injured personnel and assures their families of the Command’s unwavering support during this difficult period. He reaffirmed that the welfare of officers and men remains a priority of the Command.

“The Command has commenced a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident. The Imo State Police Command prays for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed officers and urges members of the public to keep their families and the injured personnel in their thoughts and prayers”, the statement read.
