Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Sunday accepted his ratification as the vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi had announced Kwankwaso as his running mate after emerging as the party’s 2027 flag bearer yesterday. Imo State Police Command Arrest 3 Suspects Linked To The Murder Of 21-Year-Old 100-Level FUTO Student, Christogonus Chinedu Chibuzo

  Three suspects allegedly linked to the murder of 21-year-old Christogonus Chinedu Chibuzo, a 100-level student of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), whose death occurred under suspicious circumstances on May 30, have been arrested by the operatives of Imo State Police Command. A  press statement from the Command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, a student of Cyber Security also member of the Man O’ War organization of the Campus, was allegedly subjected to severe assault by some members of the group following an accusation of theft involving the sum of ₦13,500. Okoye hinted that the suspects, Benedict Chukwuemeka, 21, Gospel Kelechi Ikenna, 24, and Anastasia Obioma, 21, all 500-level students of the university, are currently in the custody of the Command. Nigerian-Born U.S. Based Catholic Priest Found Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting Women In His Care, To Be Sentenced On Monday

  Nigerian-born U.S. based Roman Catholic priest, Anthony Odiong, has been convicted by a jury in Texas, United States, for sexually assaulting women who were under his spiritual care and guidance. Odiong, 57, was found guilty of one count of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of second-degree sexual assault following a trial held in Waco, Texas. The verdict was delivered by a 12-member jury comprising eight women and four men after approximately two hours of deliberation. According to court proceedings, prosecutors accused the priest of exploiting his position as a spiritual leader to manipulate vulnerable women into sexual relationships while providing them with counselling and religious guidance. Two women testified during the trial, alleging that Odiong used his authority as a Catholic priest to gain their trust before engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct. Over 400 People Arrested As PSG Champions League Celebrations Turn Violent Across France

  More than 400 individuals were taken into custody across France after celebrations marking Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League win over Arsenal descended into violence, leaving several police officers wounded and resulting in widespread property damage in Paris and other cities. Bill Cosby Denied New Trial In Sexual Assault Civil Case

  American former comedian and actor, William Henry Cosby Jr., popularly also known as Bill Cosby, has lost his bid for a new trial in a sexual assault civil case. The decision comes after a jury ordered him to pay nearly $60 million in damages to his accuser, Donna Motsinger. According to the court documents, the  court ruled that Cosby failed to prove he was denied a fair trial or that the damages awarded were unreasonable. The judge also found there was enough evidence to support the verdict. Earlier, the jury awarded Motsinger compensation for past and future emotional suffering, as well as $40 million in punitive damages. Donna  Motsinger accused Cosby of giving her a pill she believed was aspirin before she lost consciousness and later woke up partially clothed. During previous legal proceedings, Cosby admitted obtaining Quaaludes and said he intended to give them to women he hoped to have sex with.

The  United States has arrested a former senior CIA official after a search found $40 million worth of gold bars at his home. FBI officers also seized $2 million in cash and around 35 luxury watches this month from the home of David Rush in the U.S. state of Virginia, according to court documents. It was gathered that on Wednesday that he was a former senior CIA official, quoting people familiar with the investigation. An FBI probe found that Rush had provided false information about his education and military background in his job application, including lying about obtaining university degrees and serving as a pilot in the navy. He also filled out fraudulent time sheets and obtained $77,000 in military leave pay by falsely claiming he was a member of the navy reserves, according to the affidavit. European Union Fines Temu €200 Million Over Illegal Products

The European Union (EU) slapped a 200-million-euro ($232 million) fine on Chinese-owned online retailer, Temu on Thursday, May 28, 2026, for allowing the sale of illegal products, including dangerous baby toys and defective chargers. “The company failed to diligently identify, analyse, and assess the systemic risks of illegal products being offered on its platform and the resulting harm to consumers in the European Union,” the EU said. According to EU regulators, European consumers are “very likely to encounter illegal items” on Temu, and the company “seriously underestimated how often EU consumers are likely to” see such products. Temu is extremely popular in the European Union, with 130 million users after entering the bloc’s market in 2023.   Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar yesterday emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), positioning him for a historic fourth run as a presidential candidate in Nigeria’s electoral history.
