Court Sentences 2 Men To 30 Days Imprisonment For Roaming The Streets Naked In Ekiti State

Two men, Adeniyi Oluwole (49) and Ogunlola John (30) have been sentenced to 30 days imprisonment by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly roaming the streets naked.

The duo were arraigned on a one count charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, contrary to Section 181(i) (d) (h) of Ekiti State Laws, 2021.

The defendants pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to them.

The police prosecutor, Akinwale Oriyomi told the Court that the offences was committed around 4 AM on Monday, July 13, 2026 at the palace area of Ado Ekiti.

He said the defendants were seen walking naked around the palace vicinity and along the public highway within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.

Oriyomi added that their conduct was capable of causing a breach of public peace, prompting their arrest and subsequent prosecution.

Mr Ogunleye Abiola appeared on their behalf during the proceedings.

In his judgement, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

He noted that the defendants guilty plea further strengthens the case against them.

The Magistrate subsequently sentenced the defendants to 30 days imprisonment without an option of fine.
