Akon's Wife Tomeka Thiam Files For Divorce After 28 Years Of Marriage

Just three days before their 29th wedding anniversary, Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam has chosen to end their marriage.

According to court filings which was obtained on September 12, Tomeka says she married the singer back in September 1996 but is now pulling the plug on their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

According reports, the couple share a 17-year-old daughter named Journey. 

Tomeka is also asking the court for joint legal custody while requesting physical custody. She is also seeking spousal support from the 52-year-old Senegalese-American singer, Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam but at the same time asking the court to block Akon from receiving any spousal support himself.


Over the years, Akon has remained vague about how many “wives” he’s had, but Tomeka is officially making her position clear with this filing.

So far, Akon has not publicly reacted to the divorce news.

Teenage Boy Shot By Landlord In Owerri While Attempting To Retrieve Football From His Compound Has Died

The teenage boy who was shot by his landlord in Imo State for jumping into his house to retrieve a ball during a game of football on his school field has succumbed to his injuries. Paul died at the Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, Owerri barely 24 hours after undergoing surgery. Paul’s guardian, Mr Jonathan Odikanwa, a septuagenarian told the newsmen that his ward passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 20, 2025.
