WWE Legend, Brock Lesnar Retires After SummerSlam Defeat To Nigeria’s Oba Femi

WWE and UFC legend, Brock Lesnar has announced his retirement from professional wrestling following his Hell in a Cell defeat to Nigeria’s Oba Femi at SummerSlam 2026.

The 49-year-old made the announcement during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, confirming that the match, held in his home state of Minnesota, was the final bout of his illustrious career.

“Saturday was a very emotional day for me,” Lesnar said.

“I’m here to let the world and everybody know that I am retired, and I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody.”

The former WWE and UFC heavyweight champion revealed that he had contemplated retirement after his first loss to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42.

“When Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I was like, ‘I can’t do this again,’” Lesnar admitted.

Despite those doubts, he agreed to a rematch at SummerSlam because he believed he still had “some fuel left in the tank”. However, a second successive defeat convinced him it was time to bring the curtain down on his career.

Reflecting on more than two decades at the top of professional wrestling and mixed martial arts, Lesnar said his decision was final.

“That’s it for me inside the squared circle, and for everything else too,” he said.

Brock Lesnar leaves the sport as one of the most decorated and dominant performers of his generation, having won multiple WWE world championships and the UFC heavyweight title during a career that established him as one of combat sports’ biggest stars.

For Oba Femi, the victory further cements his meteoric rise in WWE. The Lagos-born superstar has now defeated Lesnar twice, extending his perfect 2-0 record against the wrestling icon and strengthening his reputation as one of the company’s brightest emerging talents.

WWE has yet to issue an official statement on Lesnar’s retirement or clarify whether the former champion will continue in a non-wrestling role with the company.
