Cameroon Wins The 2026 WAFCON After Thrashing Malawi 3-0

Cameroon are the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) champions after breezing past Malawi 3-0 in Sunday’s final in Rabat, Morocco. The victory resulted in the Indomitable Lionesses’ first-ever continental title.

Cameroon and Malawi both reached the tournament decider, writing their own great underdog stories. For Malawi, this was their first WAFCON finals appearance, while Cameroon originally failed to qualify for the tournament before being added after it was expanded from 12 to 16 teams.

It was the Central Africans, however, who showed up on the evening that mattered, racing into a 3-0 lead before the break.

Marie Ngah headed home their opening goal after 20 minutes before Naomi Ndjoah Eto added another in the 28th minute. Ngah then added her second of the evening on the brink of half-time to all but put the contest to bed.

The match somewhat petered out from there, with Cameroon hanging on for a historic win.

Cameroon finished as runners-up in 2004, 2014, and 2016. Finally, they are crowned Queens of Africa.
