Veteran Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus has opened up about the sudden passing of her first husband, Jaiye Aboderin, revealing that he died unexpectedly at the age of 33 after stepping out to play basketball on Friday 3rd of December, 2004.

She spoke during a chat with Temisan Emmanuel on the Tea With Tay podcast, where she recalled the painful moment that changed her life.

According to her, her husband had gone out for a game but suddenly collapsed and did not survive.

Damasus said the incident was shocking because there were no warning signs before it happened.

She explained that earlier that same day, they had both made plans to go out with friends later in the evening, not knowing that tragedy would strike before then.

She described the loss as something she could not understand at the time, as it felt sudden and without any clear reason.

The experience forced her to rethink life and how quickly things can change without notice.

She said: “I did not understand, there was no explanation for it. How can a 33-year-old man who went to play basketball just fall down and die.

“How? We were planning to go out that evening with our friends. So I just started thinking about life in a different way.

“I think that was the turning point in my life.”

It was recalled that Stella Damasus remarried three years after her husband passed away.

In 2007, she married Emeka Nzeribe and got divorced after approximately seven months.

In 2014, she remarried again for the third time to Nollywood producer, Daniel Ademinokan and the marriage ended in a divorce in 2020.

She has two daughters from her first marriage and has confirmed she's currently single and living in the United States.
