Buhari’s Body Placed In Ambulance, Commences Final Journey To Daura

Following his death in the United Kingdom, the body of Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari has now arrived Nigeria.

It was placed in an ambulance at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, marking the beginning of his final journey home to Daura.

Arriving earlier from the United Kingdom, where he passed away on Sunday July 13, 2025, Buhari’s remains were received by a high-level delegation including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda.

Also on ground were members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), military top brass, and dignitaries from across the country, all paying their last respects before the body was moved into the waiting ambulance under tight security.

The convoy has now departed for Daura, the late President’s hometown, where he will be buried later today in accordance with Islamic rites.

Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, died at the age of 82 following a brief illness.

Crowds have already begun gathering in Daura in anticipation of his burial, as tributes continue to pour in from within and beyond Nigeria.
