Former Empire star, Jussie Smollett surprised fans on Friday June 20, 2025 by announcing his engagement to long-time partner, Jabari Redd—just in time for his 43rd birthday. He shared a heartfelt Instagram carousel showing himself on one knee, Redd's joyous “YES,” a shot of the engagement ring, and champagne hugs.

Celebrations poured in, both publicly and online: sister Jurnee Smollett welcomed Redd to the family, while Empire alum Taraji P. Henson reacted with love and excitement.

This comes after a turbulent legal past for Smollett—criminal convictions over the 2019 hate‑crime incident were overturned by the Illinois Supreme Court in November 2024, and in May he settled a civil lawsuit with the City of Chicago by donating $50,000 to charity.

Ibom Air Passenger Remanded In Prison

  Comfort Emmanson, a passenger of Ibom Air who had a fight with officials has been arraigned and remanded in custody.   A video of her in a flight inbound Lagos from Uyo has since gone viral.   The Special Adviser to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, who revealed this, said Emmanson has been remanded in the Kirikiri correctional facility.   Moshood disclosed this in a post on X on Monday shortly after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), said enforcement action will soon become more frequent in Nigerian airports as unruly conduct by passengers becomes rampant.
