Youths Demolish 70-Year-Old Murder Suspect’s House In Umuahia

A murder suspect's house has been demolished by villagers in Ohokobe Ndume Umuahia, Abia state.

The demolished house is the family house of a murder suspect, Mr Stephen Irobunda.
 
The house was pulled down on Tuesday by youths of the community, in revenge for the death of their maternal son, Bright Odizuru who was shot dead by Mr Irobunda.
 
The suspect, who is about 70 years old, shot dead Mr Bright Odizuru whom he accused of playing football in front of his house on Saturday and is presently detained by the Police at State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
 
When journalists arrived at the scene of the demolition at 10: am, the building had been brought down even as other destroyed property of the suspect were thrown out along the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene road.
 
Some of the youths were seen sounding the community gong in solidarity while others were seen lamenting the death of the victim.
 
The killing of the youth, whose maternal home is Ohokobe, created tension in the neighborhood on Saturday, even as Abia State Police Command said that the matter is being investigated at SCID, Umuahia.

  The  Magistrates' Court in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, denied bail to prominent broadcast journalist Chinonso Uba, popularly known as Nonso Nkwa, and ordered him to be remanded at the Owerri Correctional Centre on Wednesday. Uba was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate, His Worship Adikaibe, on five counts preferred against him by N.S. Onwochie, Legal Prosecution Officer, Owerri, Imo State on behalf of the state police commissioner. The five counts include conspiracy, treason and arson.   A  shooting spree in Awka, Anambra State capital on Thursday morning, has claimed several lives. One of the sources, a student, said the shooting happened in Ifite Awka, at approximately 9:15 a.m., leaving several people dead. Ifite Awka is dominated mostly by students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The source said the shooting may not be unconnected to cultism. Last Sunday, no fewer than 12 people were gunned down in a cult-related shooting in Nibo, a town close to Awka. Many Feared Dead As Nigerian Soldiers And Gunmen Engage In Gun Battle In Imo State

  A  serious gun battle broke out between soldiers and unidentified gunmen in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, reportedly resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries. According to reports, the attack occurred at the Aba branch in Ehime Mbano last night. “Some non-state actors attacked and killed some soldiers in the area yesterday,”  a source claimed. “The whole place is on fire, and troops have taken over nearby communities,”  the source added.   Tragedy  unfolded in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday, as a violent attack by masked gunmen resulted in multiple fatalities during the Onwa Asaa festival, a traditional community celebration. The assailants, reportedly driving a black Lexus SUV, stormed an eatery in the community and opened fire indiscriminately, leaving several people dead. FAAN Reacts To Viral Video Of Women Accusing Airport Officials Of Demanding N5000 To Clear Their Bags

The  Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reacted to the viral video of its officials involved in an argument with a woman at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport. In the trending video, the unidentified lady accused the airport staff of demanding N5000 to clear her bags at the airport. The woman could be heard shouting that she was a passenger and wondered why the officials were demanding N5000 from her to clear her bags. The video has elicited reactions from Nigerians with many slamming the airport staff and accusing them of corruption.
