Nigerian beauty queen, Chidimma Adetshina has placed 2nd in the world’s Miss Universe pre-arrival hot picks.
 
This was made public in a viral pre-arrival poll on Tuesday.
 
The 23-year-old was ranked ahead of the 73rd edition of the global Miss Universe pageant on November 16, 2024.
 
Recall that Chidimma arrived in Mexico in October 2024, to compete for the crown.
 
The news of Adetshina’s position has thrilled Nigerians, who believe she has a strong chance to win.

  The  government in Equatorial Guinea has commenced a probe into hundreds of leaked pornographic videos allegedly involving high-ranking civil servant, Baltasar Engonga, having sex with various women, including wives of prominent officials in his office. The government has further ordered the installation of surveillance cameras in courts and ministries to combat “indecent and illicit acts.” It also announced that it was suspending officials involved in the scandal, according to a statement issued by the Equatorial Guinea Press and Information Office, published on the government’s website on Tuesday.   The  Magistrates' Court in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, denied bail to prominent broadcast journalist Chinonso Uba, popularly known as Nonso Nkwa, and ordered him to be remanded at the Owerri Correctional Centre on Wednesday. Uba was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate, His Worship Adikaibe, on five counts preferred against him by N.S. Onwochie, Legal Prosecution Officer, Owerri, Imo State on behalf of the state police commissioner. The five counts include conspiracy, treason and arson. At Uba’s arraignment, the prosecuting counsel appeared for the Commissioner of Police/Imo State government while C.K. Mgbekonye Esq., E.T. Okolie Esq., F. N. Obisike Esq., O. F.   A  shooting spree in Awka, Anambra State capital on Thursday morning, has claimed several lives. One of the sources, a student, said the shooting happened in Ifite Awka, at approximately 9:15 a.m., leaving several people dead. Ifite Awka is dominated mostly by students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The source said the shooting may not be unconnected to cultism. Last Sunday, no fewer than 12 people were gunned down in a cult-related shooting in Nibo, a town close to Awka. Another source said Thursday’s shooting happened at Ifite, close to the back gate of Unizik, Awka, not far away from Amansea Road.   A  serious gun battle broke out between soldiers and unidentified gunmen in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, reportedly resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries. According to reports, the attack occurred at the Aba branch in Ehime Mbano last night. “Some non-state actors attacked and killed some soldiers in the area yesterday,”  a source claimed. “The whole place is on fire, and troops have taken over nearby communities,”  the source added.   Tragedy  unfolded in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday, as a violent attack by masked gunmen resulted in multiple fatalities during the Onwa Asaa festival, a traditional community celebration. The assailants, reportedly driving a black Lexus SUV, stormed an eatery in the community and opened fire indiscriminately, leaving several people dead. At the time of reporting, at least 10 people had lost their lives in the attack. The  Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reacted to the viral video of its officials involved in an argument with a woman at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport. In the trending video, the unidentified lady accused the airport staff of demanding N5000 to clear her bags at the airport. The woman could be heard shouting that she was a passenger and wondered why the officials were demanding N5000 from her to clear her bags.
