Nine people have been confirmed dead, after a plane crashed into an island close to the northern city of Umeå, Sweden. Local media reported on Sunday that the plane which was carrying people for a parachute jump, left Umea airport shortly after 1.30pm and sounded an alarm at 2.12pm, before crashing.
The plane crashed into Storsandskär island, just 2km from Umeå’s airport, in the delta of the Umeå river.
