His agent, Malki Kawa, confirmed the news Norton has his arm amputated in a post on Twitter, saying: "With sadness, I can confirm that Kendrick Norton was in a car accident last night and suffered multiple injuries, including the amputation of his arm. "We ask that you continue to pray for him. His family also asks that the public respect Kendrick's privacy."
According the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the crash was so serious, that the amputation took place at the scene of the incident. Miami Dolphins tweeted: "We were made aware this morning of a serious car accident involving Kendrick Norton. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kendrick and his family during this time."
Norton, who had yet to play in the NFL, played for University of Miami and was then signed to the Carolina Panthers' practice squad in 2018, only to spend the season in their practice squad. The Miami Dolphins picked him up in December and was expected to challenge for a place in the team's 53-man roster this season.
