Tinubu Returns To Nigeria After 4-Week Working Vacation In Europe

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending four weeks in Europe on what the Presidency described as a working vacation.

The presidential aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 6:22 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

President Tinubu departed Abuja on Sunday, August 30, 2026, for London, where he spent about a week before proceeding to Paris, France. The Presidency later extended his stay by a few days after initially announcing a three-week working vacation.

During his stay in Paris, Tinubu met French President Emmanuel Macron at a private dinner and held discussions with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group.

The President is expected to remain in Lagos for activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The Presidency had said Tinubu would also attend to official engagements in Lagos before returning to Abuja.

The United States House Of Representatives Votes To Suspend 100% Aid To Nigeria Over Alleged Christian Persecution

  The Uni ted States House of Representatives has approved an amendment seeking to withhold 100 per cent of the U.S. assistance to Nigeria until the country takes stronger measures to address violence and alleged persecution of Christians. The amendment, sponsored by the U.S. Congressman Gregory Steube, was adopted through a voice vote on Wednesday and attached to the fiscal year 2027 State Department spending bill, which was later passed by the House by 217-209 votes, largely along party lines.
