Veteran Nollywood Actor, Benedict Johnson Hospitalized, Requires Surgery

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has confirmed that veteran Nollywood actor, Benedict Johnson, is currently hospitalized and undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed health condition that requires surgery.

The National President of the AGN, Abubakar Yakubu, confirmed the development on Saturday,  following public concerns raised by a viral video showing the actor undergoing an MRI scan.

Yakubu stated that the leadership of the guild is fully aware of the actor’s medical challenges and has committed to providing the necessary institutional support to ensure a successful surgical procedure.

“Yes, he is ill. Actually, he is ill and requires surgery. The guild is aware, and we are lending our full support to ensure that he undergoes this surgery,” Yakubu stated.

Johnson, an alumnus of Abia State University, began his professional acting career with appearances in pioneering Nollywood films such as Living in Bondage and Stolen Bible. Prior to his film career, he worked as a recording artiste in the late 1980’s.
