26-Year-Old Ghanaian Lawyer Dies After Collapsing During World Cup Celebration

A 26-year-old lawyer, Sarah Araba Tettey, has died after reportedly collapsing while celebrating Ghana's victory over Panama at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Standard Hostel, a private hostel in Bomso near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Tettey, an alumna of the university's Faculty of Law, was watching the match with friends when she suddenly collapsed during celebrations following the game.

She was reportedly taken to hospital, where medical staff attempted to revive her, but she was subsequently pronounced dead.

Tettey had been called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year and was practicing with O & A Legal Consult.

Her passing has prompted an outpouring of grief on social media, with friends, colleagues and former classmates mourning what many described as the loss of a promising young legal professional.

As of the time of reporting, no official statement had been issued by her family regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.

Her body has been deposited at a mortuary pending further arrangements.

The exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed by her family or medical authorities.
