Human Rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore has met with detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The meeting took place on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In a video shared on his 𝕏 handle, Sowore was seen hugging and greeting Kanu warmly.
He captioned the clip, “Finally, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and I met at the Federal High Court today. The man is powerful and unrelenting. We greeted and hugged and the bond is strong! #FreeNnamdiKanuNow.”
Sowore had earlier led a #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja on Monday, October 20 alongside Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and his younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu.
The protest, which marked the fifth anniversary of the #EndSARS movement, was dispersed by police operatives. Aloy Ejimakor, Prince Emmanuel, and several others were arrested, arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Kuje, and later remanded in Kuje Prison.
Meanwhile, Kanu has indicated his readiness to defend himself when his terrorism trial resumes before Justice James Omotosho on Thursday.
This development comes after his lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), formally withdrew from the case, prompting the IPOB leader to opt for self-representation.
Kanu has remained in custody since 2021, following his re-arrest in Kenya and subsequent extraordinary rendition back to Nigeria.
