Police Stop Man From Suicide Bid On Radio Mast In Abuja

 


The FCT Police Command on Monday averted a suicide attempt by a young man who climbed a radio mast in Abuja, threatening to take his own life.

According to eyewitnesses, the man, identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, was seen climbing the mast at ASO Radio in Katampe at about 9:10 am.

The operatives from the FCT Command were swiftly deployed to the scene, and after intense persuasion, they successfully talked the man down from the mast.

Yushau, who is currently in police custody, claimed to have been observing the mast for about a week before deciding to climb it.


The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect is in a stable condition and that further developments would be communicated in due course.


She stated, “The operatives of the FCT Police Command swiftly mobilized to the location. With much professional persuasions from the police operatives, the man later identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau was prevented from taking his own life.


“He claimed to have been observing the mast for about a week before deciding to climb it.


“The suspect is presently in police custody and in a stable condition. Further development will be communicated in due course.”
