Meta Deletes Facebook Account Of Popular APC Singer, Rarara After Nigerians Reported New Song Praising Tinubu
The Facebook account of Dauda Kahutu Rarara, a popular northern All Progressive Congress (APC) praise singer with over 1 million followers, was deleted on Saturday.
Nigerians including his followers reported him en masse after he posted a song praising President Bola Tinubu, causing the account to come under fire.
This move has sparked further mobilisation efforts by northerners to ensure all his social media pages are taken down.
The song, which praised Tinubu for making Nigeria great and addressing hunger and insecurity, has been the source of significant controversy.
Rarara claimed, “Northerners have said goodbye to hunger, insecurity, and poverty”, attributing these changes to Tinubu’s leadership.
However, this message was not well received amid the current economic hardship.
The song comes at a time when nationwide protests are planned to begin on August 1 in response to rising food prices and economic difficulties.
Food prices have surged by over 100 percent, exacerbating the public's frustration. Many see Rarara's praise for Tinubu as disconnected from the reality faced by ordinary Nigerians.
Adding to the controversy, Rarara's mother was recently kidnapped by bandits in Katsina and later freed after several days in captivity.
This incident contradicts his song's claim that northerners are now free from insecurity. The kidnapping underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region.
