Trial Begins For Nigerian Police Officers Caught On Tape Firing Gunshots To Hype Up Popular Hausa Musician, Rarara

The Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday paraded three policemen caught in a recent viral video firing shots to hype up a musician, Dauda Kahutu, popularly known as ‘Rarara’ in Kano state recently.

In the viral video, the officers serving as escorts to the singer were seen opening the door of an SUV the musician rode in and then firing gunshots into the air to hype him up.

The Force Headquarters in a statement issued on Saturday, April 8, condemned the action of the policemen and said they had been identified and arrested.

The statement signed by the Force spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, described the conduct of the officers as unprofessional.

“The NPF has condemned the unprofessionalism and act of indiscipline displayed by the policemen caught in the video that is trending where some policemen were seen firing shots to rub the ego and hype a musician in the Kano city recently.

“The policemen have been identified and arrested. They will be brought to the Force Headquarters for interview and necessary disciplinary action. Such an act is unpolice and cannot be condoned in any way.

“So, we appreciate the concern of well-meaning Nigerians and groups who have forwarded the video to us for our attention and action. We will continue to adopt and embrace innovations and ideas that can propel productive turnarounds in the Police.”

On Tuesday, Adejobi in a fresh statement posted on his official Twitter handle, titled: “KANO FIRING” gave the name of the policemen as “Sgt. Abdullahi Badamasi (on mufti, fired a pistol; Sgt. Isah Danladi; and Inspr. Dahiru Shuaibu (fired the rifle).”

These are the men caught on the video firing into the air in Kano.

“They reported today, Tuesday 11th April, at the Force Headquarters Abuja for trial.

“The trial is ongoing. We will update the public as soon as the trial is over. Thanks.” he added.
