2023: “I’m Not Dead” - Tinubu Tweets From London

Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed speculations regarding his health status, declaring that contrary to insinuations that he was dead, he is hale and hearty.

Noting that he is in high spirits to hit the ground running should he be elected as president in 2023, the former Lagos governor also said he has not withdrawn from the presidential race.

Tinubu made the clarifications in a terse comment on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday evening.

He backed the comment with a video of him in a workout session, riding a spinning bike and a hit song, ‘Organize’ from Nigeria’s fresh sensation, Asake, playing in the background.

“Many have said I have died; others claim I have withdrawn from the presidential campaign. 

“Well… Nope.

“This is the reality: I am strong, I am healthy and I am READY to serve Nigerians from Day One”, he stated.

Tinubu’s absence from the country in the past few days has led to speculations that he may have been bedridden in London hospital.

  There are more burdens on Nigerians as Moniepoint, Opay and other Fintech banks and financial services have imposed fresh N50 charges known as Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), on customers. It was gathered that the customers of Moniepoint and Opay will start paying the charges from September 9, 2024, according to a recent notice by the banks. The new levy is in addition to the recent Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) pump price hike to N855 and N897 by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited retail outlets. The  development means Nigerians using Opay and Moniepoint will have to pay N50 charges for any electronic transactions of N10,000 and above. The Fintech companies blamed the charges on a directive from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).   The  Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has assured investors of the safety of Alaigbo, noting that South-east region is big and safe to accommodate their investments. Disclosing  this in a statement on Tuesday, Emma Powerful, the groups spokesman, advised Igbo businessmen and women to bring back their investments before they regret it. Of  recent, Igbos in Lagos and other states complain of governments policies and host communities’ attitudes that affect their respective businesses. These Igbos have been assured by the various governments of the safety of their businesses in their states.   The  Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced one Courage Ikpaka to two years imprisonment for duping a United States citizen, Mrs Yvelte M. Thompson of $53,000 by impersonating Nigerian musician, Chinedu Okoli popularly known as Flavour N’abania. Justice   Dehinde Dipeolu convicted Ikpaka on Tuesday following his guilty plea to a two-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Prosecution counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, led EFCC investigator Azibagiri Dan Ekpar in evidence against the defendant. The witness told the court that Ikpaka impersonated Flavour by pledging to organise shows in the United States of America and receiving payment through his Bitcoin wallets. Award-winning cinematographer and music producer, ThankGod Omori popularly known as TG Omori, has revealed that he had a failed kidney transplant after his brother donated to him to improve his kidney-related ailment. Omori revealed this on Wednesday, shortly after disclosing that he was going through hell and that Nigerians should pray for him.
