Davido Pauses Music Career To Lead His Uncle’s Re-election Campaign
Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced a two-month break from his music career to lead the re-election campaign for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.
The Grammy-nominated artiste made this disclosure on Tuesday in Ede during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team. Davido, who will chair the committee, stated that his decision is based on his belief in the governor’s performance over the last few years.
Addressing the committee members, the singer explained that he is ready to use his global influence to drive grassroots support ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish,” he said.
He described the youth mobilisation team as one of the most critical groups for the election, urging members to focus on the impact the current administration has made on the lives of young people in the state.
Davido further charged the team to take the campaign directly to the people through door-to-door engagements across all local government areas. He emphasized the need to communicate the governor’s future programmes to the electorate clearly.
“Let us carry out door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, showcasing what the governor has achieved and what he intends to do,” the singer added.
