Five Men Arrested For Assaulting A Woman For Assisting Police In Ongoing Investigation In Imo State

The Imo State Police Command has announced the arrest of five suspects who assaulted Mrs. Ndidiamaka Agu for cooperating with law enforcement during an ongoing investigation in her community.

According to the spokesperson of the command, DSP Henry Okoye, the arrest of the suspects followed an order from the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, who directed immediate action to effect their arrest.

Okoye stated that the attention of the command was drawn to a viral video showing Mrs Agu being assaulted in Emekuku, Owerri North LGA, by the suspects and one other person who is still at large.

He indicated that, acting on the commissioner’s directive, operatives of the X-Squad Unit swung into action and arrested the suspects, whose names were given as Onyekachi Njoku, Chiazor Osuji, Chukwuma Iwuala, Eugene Njoku and Emmanuel Njoku.

Okoye further stated that the five suspects have made confessional statements admitting their roles in the assault on the lady.

He added that the sixth suspect, identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, is still at large, and operatives of the command are intensifying efforts to apprehend him.

“The Commissioner of Police condemns the assault in its entirety and reaffirms that intimidation of citizens who lawfully cooperate with the police will not be tolerated. The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court soonest with the appropriate criminal charges,” Okoye stated.

Teenage Boy Shot By Landlord In Owerri While Attempting To Retrieve Football From His Compound Has Died

The teenage boy who was shot by his landlord in Imo State for jumping into his house to retrieve a ball during a game of football on his school field has succumbed to his injuries. Paul died at the Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, Owerri barely 24 hours after undergoing surgery. Paul’s guardian, Mr Jonathan Odikanwa, a septuagenarian told the newsmen that his ward passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 20, 2025.
