“There Is No Connection Between VeryDarkMan’s Arrest And GTBank” – Deji Adeyanju

Deji Adeyanju, the legal representative of social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has clarified that Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) was not involved in the recent arrest of his client in Abuja.

Some netizens had earlier alleged that the bank played a role because VDM had visited a branch to complain about alleged unauthorized transactions from his mother’s account.

However, addressing the allegations via social media a human rights lawyer on VDM’s legal team, Deji Adeyanju dismissed the claims.

He said, “There is no connection between GTBank and the arrest of my client.

“It happened in an entirely different location and was conducted by state actors.”

He clarified that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested VDM in Area 3, hours after his bank visit.

  The Uni ted States House of Representatives has approved an amendment seeking to withhold 100 per cent of the U.S. assistance to Nigeria until the country takes stronger measures to address violence and alleged persecution of Christians. The amendment, sponsored by the U.S. Congressman Gregory Steube, was adopted through a voice vote on Wednesday and attached to the fiscal year 2027 State Department spending bill, which was later passed by the House by 217-209 votes, largely along party lines.
