Carlo Ancelotti Set To Leave Real Madrid And Become Brazil Head Coach

Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid following the club’s final La Liga match of the 2024-25 season to take the helm of Brazil’s national team.

The seasoned Italian manager has signed a contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and is scheduled to assume his new role on May 26, a day after Madrid’s last league fixture.

This appointment marks a historic milestone, making Ancelotti the first non-Brazilian to manage the Seleção permanently.

Ancelotti, 65, will succeed Dorival Junior, who was dismissed in March following Brazil’s 4-1 World Cup qualifying defeat to arch-rivals Argentina. Ancelotti’s departure from Real Madrid concludes a successful stint at the Santiago Bernabéu, adding to his illustrious coaching career.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid is anticipated to appoint former club midfielder and current Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso as Ancelotti’s replacement.

Alonso has confirmed his departure from Leverkusen at the end of the season and is reportedly the top contender for the Bernabéu job ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup in June.

Ancelotti’s upcoming fixtures with Madrid include matches against Mallorca on May 14, Sevilla on May 18, and Real Sociedad on May 25. He aims to conclude his tenure with a winning streak.
