UK Police Find Body Of Missing Nigerian Poet, Gboyega Odubanjo

Police have found a body in the search for missing poet Gboyega Odubanjo who never arrived to perform at a festival in Northamptonshire.


Mr Odubanjo, 27, was scheduled to do a reading at the Shambala festival in Kelmarsh on Sunday, August 27 but never arrived for his performance.


He was last seen at around 4a.m. on Saturday, August 26, at the event.


Officers had been appealing for information about Gboyega Odubanjo, from Woolwich, south east London.


A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson said (on Thursday, August 31): “A body has sadly been found during the search for a 27-year-old man reported missing in Kelmarsh.


Police officers made the discovery shortly before 9a.m. on Thursday, August 31, in the course of a specialized search of the area.


“The man had been reported missing on Sunday, August 27, having last been seen at Shambala festival early the previous morning.


“While formal identification has yet to take place, the man’s family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.


“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.”


Gboyega Odubanjo’s family previously said they had ‘profound concern’ for their son’s safety and wellbeing and his disappearance is ‘entirely out of character’.

  A  new experimental brain implantation device, Blindsight, designed to restore vision has been awarded the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) ‘breakthrough device’ designation. The device was created by Elon Musk’s brain chip company, Neuralink, which specialises in developing a brain-chip interface that can be implanted within the skull. Blindsight is designed to allow individuals who have lost both eyes and optic nerves to regain sight. A  federal lawmaker representing the Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in Edo State, Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie has reportedly escaped an assassination attempt. Okojie, the husband of the Nollywood movie Star, Mercy Johnson, was reportedly attacked by armed men suspected to be political thugs at his residence in Uromi on Friday morning.   The  Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced one Courage Ikpaka to two years imprisonment for duping a United States citizen, Mrs Yvelte M. Thompson of $53,000 by impersonating Nigerian musician, Chinedu Okoli popularly known as Flavour N’abania. Justice   Dehinde Dipeolu convicted Ikpaka on Tuesday following his guilty plea to a two-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Nigerian Nurse Who Left Her Infant To Die While On Duty Caught At Airport Trying To Flee UK, Jailed For Three Years

  A Nigerian nurse, identified as Ruth Auta has been sentenced to three years in jail for causing the death of her ten-week-old baby. The nurse was sentenced by Bolton Crown Court in the UK. It was gathered that the Nigerian woman left the deceased baby Joshua Akerele in her nurse's accommodation for eight hours so she could work her shift on December 20, 2022. The nurse was said to be a single mother, aged 28. When she returned to her room, she found Joshua lifeless in his cot and dialled 999, telling operators her son was not breathing. Akerele was later confirmed dead an hour later with tests showing he may have 'overheated' due to the layers of clothing and bedding he was wrapped in.
