New Zealand To Ban Cigarettes Smoking From 2023

New Zealand will pass legislation for a near-total tobacco ban from next year.

It was gathered that, a legislation passed by the country’s parliament on Tuesday indicated that anyone born after 2008 will never be able to buy cigarettes or tobacco products.

By implication, the number of people who have the means to buy tobacco will drastically shrink each year.

New Zealand’s Minister Health Dr. Ayesha Verrall, who introduced the bill, said it was a step “towards a smoke-free future”.

She added that the bill was designed to limit the number of retailers able to sell smoked tobacco products to 600 nationwide – down from 6,000 currently – and reduce nicotine levels in products to make them less addictive.

According to the Health Minister thousands of people in the country will live longer and healthier lives.

Latest statistics released by the government in New Zealand showed that smoking rate is already at historic lows, with just 8% of adults smoking daily this year, down from 9.4% last year.

Court Orders Nigerian Government To Serve Court Documents On Nnamdi Kanu Ahead Of Trial

  The Federal High Court in Abuja has given an order to the Federal Government.   It ordered the Federal Government to always serve Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu with documents and materials intended to be submitted as exhibits before they are tendered in court.   Justice James Omotosho said such documents and materials must be front loaded and be made available to the defendant as required by law so as not to catch him unawares in the defense of terrorism charges filed against him.   The judge issued the order on Tuesday during the resumption of Kanu’s trial on terrorism charges.   Issues arose when the second prosecution witness (PW2), codenamed as PWBBB, testified that he was assigned by the Attorney General of the Federation to investigate Kanu.   He described Kanu as the operator of Radio Biafra and the founder of the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Ibom Air Passenger Remanded In Prison

  Comfort Emmanson, a passenger of Ibom Air who had a fight with officials has been arraigned and remanded in custody.   A video of her in a flight inbound Lagos from Uyo has since gone viral.   The Special Adviser to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, who revealed this, said Emmanson has been remanded in the Kirikiri correctional facility.   Moshood disclosed this in a post on X on Monday shortly after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), said enforcement action will soon become more frequent in Nigerian airports as unruly conduct by passengers becomes rampant.
