"Lukaku Will Not Play As Chelsea Tackle Crystal Palace Today" - Tuchel



Chelsea’s returnee striker, Romelu Lukaku will not play in the European champions’ opening game of the 2021/22 English Premier League, Manager, Thomas Tuchel, has revealed.

Lukaku, who left Chelsea some years ago to play for Inter Milan via Everton and Manchester United, rejoined the London side on Thursday.

Tuchel has confirmed Romelu Lukaku will not make his second Chelsea debut against Crystal Palace today as the striker is currently quarantining following his club-record transfer from Inter Milan.

The Blues officially completed the signing of the 28-year-old from the Serie A champions yesterday in a club-record deal that football.london understands is worth around £98million.

The Belgian has yet to train with his new teammates and is having to self-isolate having arrived in the United Kingdom from Monaco, which is currently on the British government’s Amber list.
