30 Caskets, 4 Vehicles, 3 Bikes Destroyed In Imo Hotel Invasion



No fewer than 30 caskets, a drink depot, four vehicles, three motorcycles were destroyed when security operatives stormed Daymond hotel at Okporo in the Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday.

Recall that newsmen had reported the attack on Monday.

Some reporters who visited the community on Monday, observed that apart from the hotel, a residential house and over 10 shops were razed down by the invading security operatives.

Some reporters also gathered that no fewer than 15 persons were arrested at hotel.

Some reporters saw three big vehicles loaded with drinks of different brands and a small vehicle set ablaze with the drinks in them. 

Some reporters also saw four burnt vehicles in front of the vandalized hotel.

Also destroyed was a drink depot said to belong to the owner of the hotel, one Chinoso Uba.

Residents, who spoke to reporters, said the security operatives came in about 15 vehicles.

“The vehicles include an Armoured Personal Carrier. The operation took place between 12 and 1pm on Sunday,” one of them said.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the state police command, Michael Abattam, had yet to formally respond to the development, despite promising to do so.
