NTA Acquire Rights To Broadcast The English Premier League In Nigeria
As it was gathered, Infront currently holds the TV rights in the Sub-Saharan network. However, Nigerian company Integral was able to secure a sub-license deal from Infront to broadcast one premier league match per week. Infront selected the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as the official terrestrial broadcaster of the English Premier League. The Nigerian Television Authority, therefore, also will be able to air the magazine show produced weekly by the Premier League.
“Nigeria is a key market for the English Premier League. Together with Integral, we hope to maximize its media exposure in the country and provide an opportunity for passionate Nigerian fans to follow the action on Free-To-Air TV,” said Jean-Francois Jeanne, Infront France managing director. The Premier League is a favorite among the people of Nigeria and is one of the most-watched competitions in Nigeria. The acquisition of the Premier League rights is a bold step for football fans by Integral.
Alhaji Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, the Director-general of the NTA, shared his thoughts: “In terms of excitement, the Premier League is at a pedestal higher than any other league in the world. NTA is proud to partner with Integral to bring the excitement to the living rooms and viewing centers of Nigerians.”
In addition, Managing director of Integral Abimbola Ilo also shared his thoughts on the achievement. “Given the huge popularity of the Premier League in Nigeria, Integral is pleased to partner with Infront to bring Nigerians the excitement of the Premier League weekly on the country’s national television station, the NTA Network. With this deal, we bring the Premier League closer to its fans in Nigeria,” he said.
