Former Super Eagles Star, Osaze Odemwingie Begins A New Career In Sports

Ex-Super Eagles star Osaze Odemwingie is set to take up another career in golf following his enrolment in the Professional Golf Association (PGA) program. Osaze, a former Lille, West Brom, QPR, and Locomotiv Moscow star retired from football in April 2019 aged 38.
But the player who had taken part in the sports as a form of recreation wants to play it professionally. The former player took to his Twitter handle to announce that he has started his PGA training program so he can play the game professionally.
According to Express and Star, Osaze will work with a West Brom supporter and teaching professional Jak Hamblett in his quest to become a professional golfer. While speaking on the former Super Eagles star’s move, Hamblett said he (Osaze) turned to golf to give back to the local community.
“I have known Peter for a couple of years now,” he said. I’ve always had a knack for the short game, I played a bunker shot in a pro-am with Pete and he said: ‘You have to teach me how to do that’. “The rest, as they say, is history. He had a couple of lessons, got more and more interested in the coaching side of the game and now he wants to go professional. “He wants to learn how to be a PGA coach and has chosen me to be his mentor which is remarkable really.” He featured 63 times for the Super Eagles and scored 10 times.

Nigerians Face New Financial Strain As Moniepoint, Opay And Others Impose N50 Electronic Money Transfer Levy

  There are more burdens on Nigerians as Moniepoint, Opay and other Fintech banks and financial services have imposed fresh N50 charges known as Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), on customers. It was gathered that the customers of Moniepoint and Opay will start paying the charges from September 9, 2024, according to a recent notice by the banks. The new levy is in addition to the recent Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) pump price hike to N855 and N897 by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited retail outlets. The  development means Nigerians using Opay and Moniepoint will have to pay N50 charges for any electronic transactions of N10,000 and above. The Fintech companies blamed the charges on a directive from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).   The  Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced one Courage Ikpaka to two years imprisonment for duping a United States citizen, Mrs Yvelte M. Thompson of $53,000 by impersonating Nigerian musician, Chinedu Okoli popularly known as Flavour N’abania. Justice   Dehinde Dipeolu convicted Ikpaka on Tuesday following his guilty plea to a two-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Prosecution counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, led EFCC investigator Azibagiri Dan Ekpar in evidence against the defendant. The witness told the court that Ikpaka impersonated Flavour by pledging to organise shows in the United States of America and receiving payment through his Bitcoin wallets.   A Nigerian nurse, identified as Ruth Auta has been sentenced to three years in jail for causing the death of her ten-week-old baby. The nurse was sentenced by Bolton Crown Court in the UK. It was gathered that the Nigerian woman left the deceased baby Joshua Akerele in her nurse's accommodation for eight hours so she could work her shift on December 20, 2022.
