  Convicted actor and an inmate of the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Kirikiri, Olarewaju Omiyinka James also known as Baba Ijesha may be doing time at the prison for a despicable act of child molestation but among his inmates he has become something of a hero. Baba Ijesha was said to have killed a snake with his bare hands at the facility recently. According to Alaroye, the Nollywood actor was said to have seized a big snake lurking under a generating set close to the Chief Warder’s office and killed it by slamming it to the ground. The incident took place penultimate week when Baba Ijesha was on his way to receive medical treatment at the facility’s clinic. Within the premises, he noticed some inmates running helter-skelter, and inquired what the pandemonium was all about.   Former Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel has made his decision on taking over as the new manager of Aston Villa. Tuchel was sacked by the owners of Chelsea back in September and has since been out of work. Despite this, the German is not interested in replacing Steven Gerrard at Villa Park. The west Midlands have lost six of their 11 matches of the current season, sitting just three points above bottom-place. Gerrard was sacked on Thursday night, after suffering a humiliating 3-0 defeat away to newly promoted Fulham. Names such as Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino and ex-Arsenal coach, Unai Emery have been mentioned as Aston Villa search for a new boss. The Telegraph reports that Tuchel will reject any approach from Villa and is not interested in taking the job. Even if the former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain boss was to be offered an enormous salary and big transfer kitty, any attempt from Villa to speak with him ‘would be met with a polite no’, the newspaper reports.

  Seven persons made up of three policemen, two drivers, one domestic staff of fiery pastor, Apostle Johnson Suleman of the Omega Fire Ministries were killed, with one other staff missing on Friday evening near Auchi at the Water Tank Junction along the Warake -Auchi Road on his way to Auchi returning from a foreign mission. The incident reportedly happened at about 5 pm on Friday October 21 when an unidentified group of gunmen who eyewitnesses said had been in a Toyota Avalon Car and a ash coloured Sienna vehicle without number plates opened fire at the homecoming convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman.   A shop assistant, Nojeem Ogundele, who lost N350,000 to a fraudster at Wema Bank, Aiyetoro branch, Ogun State, has accused the bank of nonchalance in helping him to retrieve the money. It was gathered that  the incident happened around 1pm on October 12 when Ogundele’s boss, Obi Emmanuel, sent him to deposit the money into a business account. It was also gathered that on getting to the bank, Ogundele joined a queue for depositors. However, a man, who came out of the bulk room, instructed him to fill out three tellers, after which he collected the money from him and went back to the bulk room. The victim said he later discovered that the suspect was a fraudster.   As Nigeria draws closer to the 2023 general elections, the continued incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), may affect the polls. Kanu’s continued incarceration may lead to issues that may affect the turnout of voters in the Southeast. Recall that Kanu has been in detention since June 2021, when he was arrested in Kenya and subjected to extraordinary rendition. Upon return to Nigeria, he was detained at the Department of State Services (DSS), facility in Abuja and arraigned for charges bordering on terrorism. But, last week, an Appeal Court in Abuja discharged and acquitted the IPOB leader of the terrorism charges. Despite the ruling, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, had hinted that the IPOB leader would remain in detention.
