Former Liverpool Coach, Klopp Gets New Job

Former Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has gotten a new appointment.

He has been appointed as head of football operations at Red Bull, which owns the Leipzig, Salzburg and New York clubs, the company said Wednesday.
 
Klopp left Liverpool at the end of last season after nine years in charge, during which he breathed new life into the club and won the Premier League and Champions League.
 
His announcement in January that he was leaving came as a shock to the club’s fans but Klopp said he was exhausted by the role.
 
The 57-year-old’s new job with the Austrian energy drinks giant does not involve hands-on coaching.
 
According to a statement released by the company, “Klopp will not interfere in the day-to-day business of the clubs, but rather take on a higher-level strategic position.”
 
Klopp himself said: “I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs.

“After nearly 25 years on the sidelines, I couldn’t be more excited to be involved in a project like this.”

The 57-year-old will start his tenure on January 1, 2025.
 
Sky Germany reports Klopp’s contract includes an exit clause which allows him to take over as manager of the German national side should he be approached.
 
Klopp spends much of his time at his home on the Spanish island of Majorca and retains a sponsorship role with German sportswear maker Adidas.
 
Hans-Joachim Watzke, the managing director of Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund, told AFP’s German sports subsidiary on Wednesday he had discussed the Red Bull role with him.
 
“As always, I wish Jurgen good luck in his new job,” Watzke said.
 
“It was no surprise to me because we talked about it personally,” he added.
 
Earlier this month, Klopp was presented with Germany’s Federal Cross of Merit.
 
In addition to their extensive football interests, Red Bull are the principal sponsor of the reigning Formula One champion team of Max Verstappen.

A  federal lawmaker representing the Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in Edo State, Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie has reportedly escaped an assassination attempt. Okojie, the husband of the Nollywood movie Star, Mercy Johnson, was reportedly attacked by armed men suspected to be political thugs at his residence in Uromi on Friday morning. Many Feared Dead As Nigerian Soldiers And Gunmen Engage In Gun Battle In Imo State

  A  serious gun battle broke out between soldiers and unidentified gunmen in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, reportedly resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries. According to reports, the attack occurred at the Aba branch in Ehime Mbano last night. “Some non-state actors attacked and killed some soldiers in the area yesterday,”  a source claimed. “The whole place is on fire, and troops have taken over nearby communities,”  the source added. Woman Sentenced To 10 Years Imprisonment For Stabbing Husband's Side Chick

  A  court has sentenced a Zimbabwean woman, Stacey Mkandla, to 10 years imprisonment after she was found guilty of stabbing her husband’s lover. She stabbed the lady after discovering the two in a compromising position in her marital bed earlier this year. The 34-year-old was alerted by neighbors while attending an all-night church service and rushed home around 4 a.m., where she found her husband, Tafadzwa Emmanuel Munyoro, in bed with his lover, Brightness Phiri. New Mexico City Launches Ten Commandments, Ask Residents To Help Pay Legal Fees

The city of Bloomfield, New Mexico, put up an illegal Ten Commandments monument outside of a municipal building. It was put up for religious reasons in 2011. Multiple courts ruled the monument to be unconstitutional. Despite this, city officials fought back while the ACLU told them it would be unwise to do so as the law is clear on the issue. In February 2018, they could not file any more appeals which meant they owed the ACLU $700,000. In June, a proposed budget was released taking the major payment into account.  The budget shows that the city estimates $12.5 million in revenue while the 2019 preliminary fiscal year budget called for $12.2 million in expenditures and for the payment of $233,000 towards the Ten Commandments lawsuit. The city was also given the option of whether they’d like to pay the entire amount by 2021 or make three payments.
