Actors’ Guild Of Nigeria Indefinitely Suspends Nollywood Actress Halima Abubakar

The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced the indefinite suspension of actress Halima Abubakar after a thorough investigation.

AGN, in a statement on Friday, said their probe revealed that Halima is allegedly behind slanderous news about actors posted online.

The Guild also claimed that the movie star is mainly responsible for “news of extramarital affairs linked with highly placed individuals in society and Nollywood stars”.

The Guild said that she would face a disciplinary panel to determine her full punishment, adding she is not permitted to film or participate in any movies during the suspension period.

The statement reads, “Following the thorough investigative report by the special Secret Investigation Panel set up to conduct an internal underground secret investigation into the activities of some blogs/bloggers since 2022. After two years of painstaking investigations, the Panel found out that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind all the slandering information of our members, associates and patrons, especially news of extramarital affairs linked with highly placed individuals in the society emanating from the industry.

“Therefore, Halima Abubakar is hereby placed on indefinite suspension from the Actors Guild of Nigeria. She will face the National Disciplinary committee to determine her full punishment. During this period of her suspension, she is not permitted to participate in any AGN and or filming activities.

 “The National/State Chapter Taskforces have been duly mandated to monitor the compliance of the above order as violations of the suspension rules may lead to further disciplinary actions. On behalf of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, I commend the professional and intelligent work done by members of the secret investigative panel. However, some female members on the watch-list are being investigated by the secret panel, especially in the recent release of names purported to have had dealings with the Senate President.”

  The  47th President of the United States of America, Donald Trump on Monday, January 20, signed an executive order vowing to end birthright citizenship in the U.S., despite a broad legal consensus that the Constitution guarantees American citizenship to everyone born on U.S. soil. Trump’s order directs federal agencies to refuse to recognize U.S. citizenship for children born in the U.S. to mothers who are in the country illegally or there legally on visas, if the father is not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. A 30-year-old woman, Deveca Rose has been handed a 10-year jail term after her four sons died in a house fire after she locked them inside to go shopping at Sainsbury’s. In an  early victory for Twitter, a judge in the United States, Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick has set a five-day October trial date for the looming legal battle between the social giant and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk.   It was gathered that the  hearing on Tuesday centred on Twitter’s push to set a trial date for as early as September in a case focused on Musk’s attempt to walk away from a $44 billion agreement to purchase the company.
