Customs Auction Smuggled Petrol At ₦630 Per Litre

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has auctioned Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol seized by its operatives in Yola, Adamawa State.

NCS Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, disclosed this during a press briefing in the North-Eastern state.

Represented by the NCS Deputy Controller General, Olaniyi Olajugun, the Comptroller General announced the “immediate auction of the seized products at two petrol stations in Yola, at the rate of ₦630 per litre.”

He said the seizures underscore the persistent nature of the challenge and the necessity of continued vigilance and action.

According to Adeniyi, the NCS Operation Whirlwind recorded significant success in its fight against fuel smuggling, seized two lorries, 1,046 kegs filled with PMS and 12 drums of petroleum products.

“Our ongoing operations have recorded substantial seizures in various locations, including the North-West borders in the Sokoto-Kebbi axis, the South-West borders around the Seme-Badagry and Idiroko axis, and the southern borders in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states,” he said.

“I am pleased to announce that in this latest phase of Operation Whirlwind, we have seized two lorries carrying smuggled petroleum products, 1,046 kegs filled with PMS, and 12 drums of petroleum products. Additionally, one suspect has been apprehended in connection with these smuggling activities.”

The customs boss warned those engaged in illicit activities, saying “The full force of the law will be brought to bear on anyone caught smuggling our nation’s resources.”

He also urged all Nigerians, particularly residents of Adamawa and other border states, to support the operation.

“Your vigilance and cooperation are crucial in our collective efforts to safeguard our nation’s resources and ensure that the benefits of fuel price deregulation are fully realised by all Nigerians,” he added.

A  federal lawmaker representing the Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in Edo State, Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie has reportedly escaped an assassination attempt.   A  serious gun battle broke out between soldiers and unidentified gunmen in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, reportedly resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries. Woman Sentenced To 10 Years Imprisonment For Stabbing Husband's Side Chick

  A  court has sentenced a Zimbabwean woman, Stacey Mkandla, to 10 years imprisonment after she was found guilty of stabbing her husband’s lover. She stabbed the lady after discovering the two in a compromising position in her marital bed earlier this year. New Mexico City Launches Ten Commandments, Ask Residents To Help Pay Legal Fees

The city of Bloomfield, New Mexico, put up an illegal Ten Commandments monument outside of a municipal building. It was put up for religious reasons in 2011. Multiple courts ruled the monument to be unconstitutional. Despite this, city officials fought back while the ACLU told them it would be unwise to do so as the law is clear on the issue. In February 2018, they could not file any more appeals which meant they owed the ACLU $700,000. In June, a proposed budget was released taking the major payment into account.  The budget shows that the city estimates $12.5 million in revenue while the 2019 preliminary fiscal year budget called for $12.2 million in expenditures and for the payment of $233,000 towards the Ten Commandments lawsuit. The city was also given the option of whether they’d like to pay the entire amount by 2021 or make three payments.
