Mob Drowns 83-Year-Old Woman Suspected Of Being A Witch

An 83-year-old South African woman identified as Nosayinethi Manundu was reportedly thrown into a drum of water by a mob in Eastern Cape few days ago, after being accused of being a witch. Family of the deceased told Sowetan that a group of villagers who arrived at Nosayinethi Manundu's home, accused her of witchcraft and being responsible for the death of her relative at Majuba village in Sterkspruit.

The man she was accused of killing through witchcraft is 23-year-old Samkelo Manundu, who died in Franschoek, Western Cape where he was stabbed to death. The 83-year-old woman was grabbed, beaten up, burnt and forced into a water-filled 150-litre drum. A 38-year-old relative said;

"After the incident, we no longer trust anyone as we have been getting threatening calls. I am struggling to sleep at night as I can still hear my grandmother screaming and begging for her life."
