According to him, music is his first love but investing in his future over the fear of financial insecurity pushed him out of music for a while, adding that he could not afford to leave his business unattended to. Recall that the singer floated a water bottling company some years back as he revealed that he was preparing for life after music. This, according to Terry G, is just one of the businesses he was running to keep his game tight.
“I know that many artistes don’t have the culture of investing wisely. I don’t ever want to be caught napping when music does not pay again. I am investing wisely and still making good music. That break was neccessary for my business because I know that I could always come back to music.”
Asked about his plan for coming back as the industry seemed to have changed a lot, the Apako Master said he had would be unleashing himself on the industry in a fresh way, pointing out that his fans base has not depleted despite the break. On who he thinks is the the originator of Hip hop culture in Nigeria, Terry G said he didn’t have to be sentimental to recognise the roles played by rapper Mode9 and the defunt Plantashun Boiz that had the trio of 2face, Blackface and Faze.
“Anybody can say anything about the hip hop in Nigeria but I know that 2face was the first artiste that brought Channel O to Nigeria. Mode9 and the Plantashun Boiz opened our eyes to what we are enjoying today,” he said.
