“Enugu Governor-Elect, Peter Mbah’s Certificate Not From Us” – NYSC Director-General

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, has distanced the Scheme from the Discharge Certificate in possession of the Enugu State Governor-elect, Mr Peter Mbah.

It was gathered that there have been controversies regarding the authenticity or otherwise of the said NYSC Discharge Certificate, which Mr Mbah presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to contest the March 18, 2023 Enugu State governorship election.

Speaking on Arise News Channel’s breakfast show on Friday morning, the NYSC DG said the Certificate in possession of Mbah was not issued by NYSC.

“You can’t go and collect certificate on the street, you can’t go and collect certificate from a hotel.

“The governor-elect is a lawyer. I am not a lawyer but I know as the DG of NYSC, I’m fully aware of this case. He came to me, I was frank to him and I told him this Certificate is not from us,” Brig-Gen Ahmed stated.

When told that Mbah had sued the NYSC and its Director of Certification over the matter, the DG queried: “Do you sue somebody on pages of newspaper? As far as I am concerned NYSC has not been sued. I’ve not received any court order or anything.

The NYSC boss added: “I don’t want to talk much about this.”

Speaking on the clamour for the increment of monthly allowance of Corps members, the NYSC DG advised participants in the Scheme to bury the thought, saying “Instead of thinking of increment, start thinking of what to do in service and outside service, so you can help yourself.

Immigration Officer Bags 7-Year Jail Term Over Passport Fraud

  The  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has secured the conviction of Quadri Ismail Adeyinka, a staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service for committing travel passport fraud. ICPC  arraigned the convict before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a four-count charge bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage and cheating contrary to extant provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and the Penal Code Act. Counsel to ICPC, Dr Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha, in the course of the trial, led evidence before the court on how Adeyinka defrauded Ovie Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularising the latter’s international passport. Adeyinka,  after receiving the sum of N100,000 from Ojeffia to regularise the said passport, reneged on their agreement. Veteran Nollywood Actress, Stella Ikwuegbu Is Dead

Nollywood has been plunged into mourning as veteran actress Stella Ikwuegbu passed away on Sunday.  A cloud of sorrow has therefore enveloped the Nigerian film industry as fellow actors, filmmakers, and fans grapple with the devastating news and reflect on Ikwuegbu’s immense contributions to Nollywood over the years.
