“My Parents Are Jailed For My Sake, I Feel Guilty” — Ike Ekweremadu’s Daughter, Sonia

The United Kingdom court’s sentencing of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, for their involvement in an organ-harvesting plot has elicited a poignant response from their daughter, Sonia Ekweremadu.

In an interview with BBC, the 25-year-old expressed her disbelief and sorrow over the events that have unfolded, stating that her family may never be the same again.

“I don’t think it will ever be the same again,” Sonia revealed, her emotions palpable. “And obviously, I feel guilty because I feel like all these have happened because of me.

“Life is just some dynamic. Like you’re one day in your house chilling and the next day your whole life is turned around.”

The UK court had sentenced Ike Ekweremadu to nine years and eight months imprisonment, while his wife received four years and six months for attempting to harvest a kidney from 21-year-old Nigerian boy named David Nwamini to aid their daughter’s health.

Dr Obinna Obeta, a medical doctor who was also involved in the crime, received a 10-year sentence for his role in facilitating organ harvesting.

Nigerian singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, has confirmed his upcoming wedding to his partner, Chioma Rowland. Immigration Officer Bags 7-Year Jail Term Over Passport Fraud

  The  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has secured the conviction of Quadri Ismail Adeyinka, a staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service for committing travel passport fraud. ICPC  arraigned the convict before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a four-count charge bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage and cheating contrary to extant provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and the Penal Code Act. Counsel to ICPC, Dr Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha, in the course of the trial, led evidence before the court on how Adeyinka defrauded Ovie Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularising the latter’s international passport. Adeyinka,  after receiving the sum of N100,000 from Ojeffia to regularise the said passport, reneged on their agreement. Veteran Nollywood Actress, Stella Ikwuegbu Is Dead

Nollywood has been plunged into mourning as veteran actress Stella Ikwuegbu passed away on Sunday.  A cloud of sorrow has therefore enveloped the Nigerian film industry as fellow actors, filmmakers, and fans grapple with the devastating news and reflect on Ikwuegbu’s immense contributions to Nollywood over the years.
