“They Thought She Was Dead” – Community Leader Gives Update On Baby Who Survived Attack That Killed Her Family In Plateau State

Plateau attack

A four-month-old baby, Mirabel, who survived an attack that killed her parents and grandfather in Plateau State, is now making a remarkable recovery.

Gunmen killed a Christian missionary, Rev. Bulus Madaki, his daughter, son-in-law and injured his 4-month-old infant grandchild in an attack on commuters in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

The attack occurred at about 10 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026 at a bridge linking the Gassa and Nding communities in Fan District.

George Lambert, a community leader, who visited Mirabel in the hospital said that the baby survived because the attackers thought she died after they hit her with a machete on the head and she lost consciousness.

He further disclosed that Rev. Madaki, his daughter and son-in-law were laid to rest on Tuesday.
