AFCON 2025: Ghanaian Referee’s Instagram Page Taken Down After Nigeria Lose To Morocco

The Instagram page of Ghanaian referee, Daniel Nii Laryea, has been taken down.

This followed what many have described as controversial officiating during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final between Nigeria and Morocco.

There has been apprehension over his nationality ahead of the game, with Ghana and Nigeria bitter West African rivals.

Nii Laryea did not douse those fears as he made some questionable calls, including showing Calvin Bassey a yellow card which triggered a one-match ban.

Nigerian fans reportedly found the Ghanaian official’s page on Instagram and Twitter and mass-reported it.

When recently checked out, the Instagram account of the Ghanaian referee had been taken down.

“The referee was appalling,” Nigeria defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, said in the mixed zone.

“I’m not saying that’s the reason why we lost but he was making very, very wrong decisions and it’s really painful to see that we have referees like that in a game like today.”

Ibom Air Passenger Remanded In Prison

  Comfort Emmanson, a passenger of Ibom Air who had a fight with officials has been arraigned and remanded in custody.   A video of her in a flight inbound Lagos from Uyo has since gone viral.   The Special Adviser to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, who revealed this, said Emmanson has been remanded in the Kirikiri correctional facility.   Moshood disclosed this in a post on X on Monday shortly after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), said enforcement action will soon become more frequent in Nigerian airports as unruly conduct by passengers becomes rampant.
