Justin Bieber Shatters Billboard Records With New Album ‘Swag’

  Justin Bieber's new album 'Swag' has shattered multiple records on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts.   His seventh studio album was released in celebration of him becoming a father.   The album cover featured him, his wife Hailey and their son, Jack Blues.   The album dominated this week’s Billboard Hot 100 with 16 songs, and the lead track, ‘Daisies’, debuting at number 2.   The multiple entries saw Bieber break a tie with Chris Brown for the most Hot 100 chart entries by a male singer with 121 songs.   ‘Daisies’ is his 27th top 10 hit on the Hot 100, making the 10th artist with the most top 10 hits in Billboard Hot 100 history; a tie with Janet Jackson.   Bieber also became the first artist ever to debut at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts simultaneously.   His album ‘Swag’ debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200, while ‘Daisies’ debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.   Meanwhile, Teddy S...

  The suspended senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has again called out the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, claiming that her suspension is fraudulent.   She spoke on Tuesday after her failed attempt to resume legislative duties today.   Natasha added that she will approach the appellate court for interpretation of the legal impasse.   Akpoti-Uduaghan made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday after being refused entrance into the National Assembly Complex by security personnel.   Recall that the suspended senator had on Tuesday defied a heavy security blockade and arrived at the National Assembly Complex on foot from the MOPOL gate, accompanied by a crowd of supporters.   The lawmaker, whose suspension by the senate is being contested in court, parked her vehicle outside the National Assembly premises and walked through the main MOPOL gate, in company of some activists, including Aisha Ye...

  Attempts by suspended Senator of Kogi state, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to resume legislative duties today was futile as the entrance of the National Assembly was shut against her on Tuesday 22nd of July, 2025.   Natasha had attempted to gain access into the assembly and resume duty.   Even with a judgement by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, she was denied access.   According to the lawmaker, the judgement, which was delivered recently in Abuja, ordered her resumption.   However, security operatives at the assembly gate, stopped her and her entourage from gaining access into the red chamber.   Senator Natasha had bagged a six-month suspension over her outburst at the chamber when her seating position was changed without her consent.

Nollywood Actor Jerry Williams Reportedly Arrested By Police

  Men of the Delta State Police have arrested popular Nigerian actor, Jerry Williams.   Information released by Nollywood actor, Stanley Ontop revealed that Williams was reportedly arrested by Nwafor Franklin, better known as Izutech with the help of the police.   Jerry was reportedly arrested on Monday morning at his residence in Delta State by officers from the Edo State Police Command.   Expressing concern over Jerry’s safety, Stanley accused Izutech of withholding the sum of ₦2.5 million collected from producers that want to cast Jerry in their movie.   Captioning the clip, he wrote:  “Izu went to Jerry Williams house in the early hours of today 21st July 2025 and bundled him to Benin with the help of some Nigeria police. “Let it be known that Jerry Williams is in Izu’s custody. Lagos Court Grants Activist Scott Iguma ₦10 Million Bail Over Alleged Cybercrime

  Bail in the sum of  ₦10 million  has been granted to activist Scott Iguma, who is currently standing trial over allegations of disseminating a false video and issuing threats to life.   The bail was granted by Justice Friday Oghazi of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.   The decision came during the bail hearing held on Monday, following a formal application by Iguma’s defence counsel, Stanley Alieke. The motion, dated July 17, 2025, was supported by a sworn affidavit, urging the court to grant bail under the most lenient terms.   While not opposing the application, prosecuting counsel A. Nwabuisi urged the court to bar the defence from sharing any information about the nominal complainant on social media and requested that both parties desist from making public comments about the matter.   In response, Alieke called on the court to apply the same restriction to the complainant, asking that they also be barred from speaking to the media or diss...

Nollywood Actress, Shirley Igwe Suspended By Actors Guild Of Nigeria Over Assault

  The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced the suspension of Nollywood actress, Shirley Igwe.   She was suspended following allegations that she assaulted a crew member on a film set.   It was gathered that Igwe allegedly slapped a member of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN), during a production, prompting swift disciplinary action from the AGN.   In a statement issued to its state chapter chairmen and the national chairman, the Guild announced that Igwe had been placed on indefinite suspension pending further investigation.   The AGN stated that the suspension was due to  “violence, and indiscipline actions capable of discrediting the acting profession.”   The statement further directed:  “Members are hereby directed to refrain from participating in any film production involving her.”

Bauchi State Hisbah Bans DJs, Gala Events And Other Marriage Activities To Curb Rising Divorce Rates

  The Bauchi State Hisbah Commission has released a new set of rules against wedding and social gatherings across the state.   It blamed wedding and social gathering for the sharp rise in divorce cases.   According to the commission, the 16 new guidelines are aimed at restoring the moral and spiritual foundation of marriage. Among the banned practices are the use of DJs, gala events, kawayawade, aloba, and other forms of entertainment considered to promote immorality.   The commission said these guidelines will be strictly enforced at recreational centres, event venues, and clubs in line with sections 95, 362 and 373 of the Bauchi State Sharia Penal Code.   While explaining the reason for the move, the commission stated that many marriages collapse due to the removal of baraka, or blessing, right from the early stages. Scott Iguma Granted Bail In Defamation Case With PWAN

Popular media personality and influencer, Scott Iguma has been granted bail.   He was granted bail on Monday by the Lagos State High Court.   This came three days after Scott was remanded in prison.   Scott had last week Monday, called out a popular real estate company, PWAN for defrauding customers.   While submitting over 130 petitions from victims to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Scott accused PWAN of selling receipts to the people instead of land.   On Thursday, he was arrested for defamation by PWAN founder, Augustine Onwumere.   The court remanded him in prison on Friday morning.   The development sparked controversy across social media platforms, with many of his colleagues and associates including Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, Stanley Ontop, and singer Kokopee calling out the Nigeria Police and PWAN.   However, in a video shared on his page, singer Kokopee announced that Scott has been granted bail.   He said  ...

Galatasaray Agree Deal With Napoli To Sign Super Eagles Striker Victor Osimhen

  An agreement has been reached between Turkish giants, Galatasaray and the Italian side, Napoli for the permanent signing of Victor Osimhen.   Recall that the Nigerian striker impressed during his 2024/25 loan spell with 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances.   He will now join Okan Buruk’s side permanently.    Galatasaray will pay Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, with €40 million upfront and the remaining €35 million by the end of 2026. Napoli will also receive €5 million in bonuses and retain a 10% sell-on clause.   The deal includes an ‘anti-Serie A clause’ that prevents Osimhen from joining a direct Serie A rival within the next two years.   Osimhen will now continue where he left off with Galatasaray during his loan-spell last season, where the Nigerian star striker flourished as he scored 26 goals and 5 assists in the Turkish Super League.

Tom Njemanze, the veteran Nollywood actor, has died at the age of 75. It was gathered that he died on Friday following a battle with prostate cancer. Tom Njemanze, who gained fame in the 1990s, is renowned for his powerful performances in iconic films such as Tokunboh, Pounds and Dollars, Atosa, Issakaba, Osuofia in London, Brain Box, and Igbotic Love. Femi Oladele, the prime suspect in the killing of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, has died. The suspect, Femi Oladele popularly known as ‘Tallex’ who is the landlord of the deceased students – Andrew Eloho Okah, 25, and John Friday Abba, 19 – reportedly died on Friday following a strange and brief illness while in detention. Tallex was arrested along with two other suspects for kidnapping, robbery, rape and murder of the 200-level undergraduates of the Department of History and International Studies (Faculty of Arts) and the Department of Economics (Faculty of Agriculture) of the institution. Nigerian Government Opposes Nnamdi Kanu’s No-case Submission, Court Sets Date For Ruling

  The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday 18th of July, fixed 10th of October, 2025 to decide whether or not to free the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, from the terrorism charges against him. Judge James Omotosho fixed the date for ruling after Mr Kanu’s no-case submission. Mr Kanu filed the no-case submission after the prosecution closed its case in June, urging the court to excuse him from putting forward any defence and dismiss the charges. But the Nigerian government’s prosecution team asked the court to throw the application out, insisting the IPOB leader has a case to answer. The IPOB leader faces terrorism charges which stemmed from his agitation for the secession of the Nigeria’s South-east and parts of neighbouring states as an independent state of Biafra.
