NANS Declares Nationwide Protest Starting From Wednesday

  The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has declared a nationwide protest.   NANS declared the mass protest on Wednesday, July 2 over the continued closure of public primary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).   In a statement, signed by its president, Olushola Oladoja, on Monday, NANS expressed serious displeasure at the closures that have lasted over two months, affecting thousands of children (particularly poor families) from benefiting from basic education.   Last week, NANS gave an ultimatum of seven days to the FCT Administration, headed by Minister Nyesom Wike, to reopen the schools or face protests across the country. “It is very clear that the government’s silence is an act of negligence and apathy towards the educational destiny of the Nigerian child,”  said Oladoja, who described the closure as  “unacceptable.”   He added that despite repeated appeals and calls for dialogue, authorities had made no effort, of any k...

Herdsmen Attack Benue Communities Again, Kill 4 Police Officers

  Armed herdsmen have stormed Udei village, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, on Sunday, June 30 and killed four police officers. 21-Year-Old Content Creator Found Dead Inside A Gutter In Lokoja

  A 21-year-old content creator has been found inside a gutter in Lokoja, Kogi state.   The lady has been identified as Christiana Olatunji.   Before her death, she was a student at one of Lokoja's higher education institutions and was from Fehinti-Kabba in the state's Kabba Bunu Local Government Area.    Witnesses claim that early last week, the woman was last spotted with one of her friends at a well-known lounge in Lokoja.   Following a fruitless search by her friends and security personnel, her lifeless body was reportedly found inside a gutter next to the road on Thursday.    It was reported that one of her friends had been taken into custody and was assisting the police in their investigation to determine what caused her death.   The deceased was reportedly a well-known social media content creator.   The state police command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, who confirmed the incident said arrest has been m...

  A Nigerian carer has landed in trouble after she was caught on CCTV violently manhandling a frail elderly man with dementia.   A footage showed her hurling him around just days before he died.   The carer, Bilikesu Olagunju, 42, who had been in the job just six days, was caught on camera 'manhandling' John Attard, 88, at his home in Bexley, Kent, a court heard.   Footage captured during the 45-minute visit shows the ordeal from which the great-grandfather never recovered, according to his family.   According to reports, Olagunju, who at the time was employed by Unique Personnel UK, stripped Mr Attard, threatened to beat him up, and even dragged him across his living room floor.   She is also said to have ignored the elderly man as he repeatedly told her she was 'hurting' him.   At one point, Olagunju tells him:  'Maybe I will beat you up. Federal Government Delegation Arrives In Saudi Arabia For Dantata’s Burial

  A  high-powered Federal government delegation has arrived in Saudi Arabia to receive the remains of the late business magnate and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, ahead of his burial in the holy city of Medina. The delegation, led by the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, departed Nigeria late Sunday and landed in Medina in the early hours of Monday.   The Anambra State Commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Ibadin Judith-Chukwu, has raised concerns over the escalating rate of human trafficking in the state, describing the situation as increasingly alarming. Judith-Chukwu also expressed worry over a disturbing trend in the state, where young people are now cohabiting by mutual consent solely to produce babies for sale. Saudi Arabia Approves Aminu Dantata’s Burial In Medina

  The Saudi Arabian authorities have officially granted approval for the burial of renowned businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, in the holy city of Medina. Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi Junaidu, the Private Principal Secretary to the late Dantata, announced this in a Facebook post on Sunday. “Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulilah Alhamdulillah, I have received approval to take Aminu Alhassan Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina, he will be buried tomorrow morning by the grace of Allah,”  the post read. Dantata died on Friday night at a hospital in Abu Dhabi after a brief illness at the age of 94. The family had earlier disclosed that the late industrialist would be buried in Madina next to his wife, Rabi’a Dantata, who died in 2023, in accordance with his final wishes. Vigilante Personnel Allegedly Beat Father Of Two To Death Over Girlfriend In Rivers State

Confidence Ikechi, a father of two, was reportedly beaten to death in the Elele community of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, by members of the local vigilante group OSPAC, identified as Godspower and his associate, J Boy. Ikechi was reportedly killed on Friday, June 27, 2025, following a fight with Godspower's girlfriend. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has extended an open invitation to anyone wishing to visit him at the Department of State Services (DSS) detention facility. Kanu gave the invitation in reaction to the Kenyan High Court’s ruling on his extradition rendition to Nigeria.   The Airport Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has apprehended a suspected international fraudster, Abraham Akpojisheri, who was found in possession of 783 MTN SIM cards.   The Senate has issued a warning to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over the missing of ₦210 trillion.   A final warning issued through its Committee on Public Accounts demanded that NNPCLs Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashiru Bayo Ojulari, appear in person before the committee within 10 working days to address audit discrepancies totaling ₦210 trillion.   At its session on Thursday, the committee chaired by Senator Aliyu Wadada expressed strong disapproval after NNPCL failed to honor the invitation to clarify inconsistencies in its audited financial statements from 2017 to 2023.   Instead, the company submitted a letter requesting a two-month extension to gather relevant documents. A High Court in Nairobi, Kenya, has declared the abduction and detention of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, along with his subsequent extradition to Nigeria in June 2021, as unlawful and illegal. Delivering judgment, Justice E.C. Mwita held that the actions of both the Kenyan and Nigerian governments amounted to gross violations of Kanu’s fundamental human rights as protected by their respective constitutions. The court also awarded Kanu 10 million Kenyan Shillings (₦119,546,576.79) in compensatory damages against the Kenyan government for its role in the unlawful abduction and rendition. Justice E.C.   Edikan Adiakpan, a 33-year-old Nigerian has been arrested for fraud in the United States.   He was apprehended in Houston, Texas, for his involvement in a massive money laundering and business email compromise scheme.    This is according to information released by U.S Attorney Nicholas J.   A gospel singer, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi has been sentenced to death by hanging for the murder of Salome Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).   The sentence was handed him by the High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State.   He faced a single charge of culpable homicide, in violation of Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria, which prescribes the death penalty.   Justice Simon Aboki, who delivered the judgment, found Ajayi guilty of murdering and dismembering Adaidu.   He was charged with a single count of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria, which carries the death penalty.
