Wizkid Becomes First African Artiste To Hit 8 Billion Streams On Spotify

Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid, has reached a new milestone on Spotify.
 
He has become the first African artist to surpass 8 billion streams on Spotify.
 
The 8 billion streams include both leads and features.
 
His collaborative hit with Canadian superstar, Drake, ‘One Dance,’ is his most streamed song on the platform with over 2 billion streams.
 
‘One Dance’ holds the Guinness World Record for the first single to hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.
 
Wizkid’s most streamed album on the platform is the deluxe edition of his fourth studio album, ‘Made In Lagos’ with about a billion streams.
 
Meanwhile, Burna Boy has hit 7.2 billion streams on Spotify, making him the second most streamed African artist on the platform.
 
He is the most followed Afrobeats artiste on the platform.

  The nominations for the 74th BAFTAs (British Academy Film Awards) have been revealed    Nomadland and Rocks lead the nominations for the 2021 ceremony, with seven nominations apiece. Man Planning To Propose On New Year's Eve Dies In Christmas Day House Fire While Searching For The Ring

An American man has tragically lost his life in a house fire on Christmas Day while searching for the engagement ring which he planned to use to propose to his girlfriend on New Year's Eve. According to FOX affiliate KTVU, Oakland fire crews were alerted to the blaze in the 3500 block of Oak Knoll Boulevard around 6:15 a.m. local time on Wednesday, December 25. Firefighters who were searching the home eventually found the man unconscious inside. The victim has been identified by relatives as 37-year-old Steven Weatherford Jr., according to KTVU and FOX affiliate KGO. Weatherford was reportedly looking for an engagement ring when he was apparently overcome by the smoke and fire. Family said he was planning on using the ring to propose to his girlfriend on New Year’s Eve. IBADAN STAMPEDE: “35 Dead Bodies Recovered, Six In Critical Condition” – Police

  The Oyo State Police Command have revealed the number of dead that have been recovered in the deadly Ibadan stampede.   The police said no fewer than 35 bodies of minors, who were killed in the Ibadan stampede have been recovered.   The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, SP Osifeso Adewale, who confirmed this in a statement on Thursday, said about six minors who sustained severe injuries during the incident, are in critical condition. “So far (35) thirty-five minors have been documented dead while (6) six others are critically injured and on various medical interventions,”  he said.   Recall that a funfair organized by the former Queen of the Ooni of Ife, Prophetess Naomi Shikemi at the Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, had resulted in stampede, leading to the tragic incident.   The Oyo State Police Command said that eight persons involved in sponsoring the event had since been arrested.   The Police spokesman said those arrested incl...

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), says veteran actor, Zack Orji underwent two successful brain surgeries. The national President of AGN, Emeka Rollas, who revealed this, said he is in good health. 3.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits California In US Amid Ongoing Wildfires

A 3.7 magnitude earthquake hit California on Friday morning, further compounding the state's ongoing struggles with devastating wildfires. The tremor was detected near the San Francisco Bay Area at 7:02am PT, with its epicentre approximately five miles southwest of the Golden Gate Bridge and two miles west of the Great Highway, Mail Online reports. The quake was followed by a 2.2 magnitude aftershock four minutes later, and a 2.5 magnitude tremor six minutes after the initial hit. The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that more than 5,000 people in the area felt the shake, and the number of reports continues to grow. This seismic activity occurred about 350 miles away from the Los Angeles area, where wildfires have caused widespread destruction. In Los Angeles, at least 10 people have died in the fires, and 180,000 residents have been forced to evacuate. Over 10,000 structures have been destroyed, with nearly 30,000 acres of land scorched.
