Woman Arrested In Nasarawa For Concealing 124 Rounds Of Ammunition In Palm Oil Gallon

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, on Friday, arrested a woman, Hauwa Sani, for allegedly concealing 124 rounds of anti-craft ammunition in a gallon of palm oil.

The Command's Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel revealed this in a statement post on X.com on Saturday.

According to him, the state police operatives also arrested the suspect with a cash sum of N78,500 and a mobile phone while trying to smuggle the ammunition to Katsina state.

The Commissioner of Police, Shehu Nadada has ordered the transfer of the suspect and exhibit to the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.

The statement reads, “On 23/8/2024 at about 1710hrs, based on credible information, Police operatives attached to Keffi Division intercepted and got one Hauwa Sani ‘F’ alongside a 2-year-old child of Doro village, Katsina state arrested.

“Consequently, one hundred and twenty-four (124) rounds of Anti Aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil, one Tecno mobile phone, and a cash sum of Seventy-eight thousand and five hundred Naira (N78,500) were recovered from the suspect as exhibit.

“Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect received supply of the ammunition at Rafin sanyi village of Doma Local government area of Nasarawa state, and concealed the items in a gallon of palm oil en route Katsina state before nemesis caught up with her.”

  There are more burdens on Nigerians as Moniepoint, Opay and other Fintech banks and financial services have imposed fresh N50 charges known as Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), on customers. It was gathered that the customers of Moniepoint and Opay will start paying the charges from September 9, 2024, according to a recent notice by the banks. The new levy is in addition to the recent Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) pump price hike to N855 and N897 by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited retail outlets. The  development means Nigerians using Opay and Moniepoint will have to pay N50 charges for any electronic transactions of N10,000 and above.   The  Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced one Courage Ikpaka to two years imprisonment for duping a United States citizen, Mrs Yvelte M.
