ELEVATOR TRAGEDY: Police Arrest Three Over Doctor’s Death

The Lagos State Police Command, on Saturday, said three persons have been arrested over the unfortunate death of a medical doctor, Vwaere Diaso, at the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos-Island, last Tuesday.

Spokesman for the Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin told the newsmen that the three suspects are currently at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.

“Three people in our custody at the SCID,” Hundeyin said in a text response to an inquiry by reporters. He, however, did not reveal the identities of the suspects.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has said that the installer of a faulty elevator that claimed the life of the doctor has been handed over to the police for interrogation.

In a statement on Friday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy in the state, Olumide Sogunle, said an inquiry has commenced into the accident.

The investigation panel will submit a report of its initial findings on Saturday, Sogunle said.

Similarly, the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has declared an indefinite strike in three hospitals over the death of their colleague.

Nigerian singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, has confirmed his upcoming wedding to his partner, Chioma Rowland. EFCC Arrests 14 Suspected Vote-Buyers, Intercepts N11 Million Cash In Imo And Bayelsa States

Immigration Officer Bags 7-Year Jail Term Over Passport Fraud

  The  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has secured the conviction of Quadri Ismail Adeyinka, a staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service for committing travel passport fraud. ICPC  arraigned the convict before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a four-count charge bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage and cheating contrary to extant provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and the Penal Code Act. Counsel to ICPC, Dr Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha, in the course of the trial, led evidence before the court on how Adeyinka defrauded Ovie Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularising the latter’s international passport. Adeyinka,  after receiving the sum of N100,000 from Ojeffia to regularise the said passport, reneged on their agreement. Veteran Nollywood Actress, Stella Ikwuegbu Is Dead

Nollywood has been plunged into mourning as veteran actress Stella Ikwuegbu passed away on Sunday.  A cloud of sorrow has therefore enveloped the Nigerian film industry as fellow actors, filmmakers, and fans grapple with the devastating news and reflect on Ikwuegbu’s immense contributions to Nollywood over the years.
