Tiktoker Sentenced To Three Years In Prison For Cyber-Bullying Nollywood Actress, Eniola Badmus

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday sentenced a Tiktoker, Nwakaego Okoye, to three years imprisonment for social media bullying of a popular Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo convicted and sentenced Okoye after she pleaded guilty to the charges against her.

The judge also gave an option of N150, 000 fine in lieu of the sentence.

Earlier during the arraignment of the convict, the police prosecutor Nosa Uhumwangho, told the court that the convict and one Chimabia (now at large) conspired to commit the offence of cyberstalking.

He said the incident took place between December 2022 and July 2023.

According to the prosecutor, the offence committed contravened Sections 27 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015.

Following the reading of the charge and Okoye’s plea of guilt, the prosecutor, Uhumwangho pleaded with the court to review the facts of the case.

He then urged the court to convict the defendant as charged and pass an appropriate sentence.

However, counsel to the convict, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, adding that the convict was a first-time offender, who did not waste the time of the court.

Justice Oweibo, in his ruling sentenced, Okoye to three years imprisonment on the two counts or a fine of N150,000.
