Tension In Ebonyi As Gunmen Kill South-East’s Ebubeagu Operative
There is tension and fear of the unknown in Mkpuma Ekwa-Oku Community in the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State as suspected gunmen killed a security operative of Ebubeagu.
This has created an atmosphere of fear of the unknown as residents of the community are not certain of what might happen next.
It was gathered that gunmen in the early hours of Friday shot dead one Sunday Izhikpa, who was a member of the Southeast outfit at his duty post in the community.
It is not yet clear why he was killed but Peoples Gazette reported that a resident of the area, Victor Ogbaga, told newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital that the deceased was a native of Nduakparata Igbeagu in the same local government area.
Ogbaga was quoted as saying that “He was killed by the gunmen at his duty post, Mkpuma Ekwa-oku in Izzi, adding that the corpse of the victim has been evacuated from the scene, where he was murdered this morning.”
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chris Anyanwu, also confirmed the killing, saying that the victim was shot in the early hours of Friday.
The police spokesperson said, “Yes, I have called a personnel of Ebubeagu and he said that the attack was true.”
